Philosophy
Our philosophy and the values we live by form the strong basis of BUTTING's corporate culture. They form our mission statement. This results in a trusting relationship with customers, suppliers and employees. Corporate management
Values provide direction and support. This also applies to the task of managing people. At BUTTING, we aim to support every employee through value-based leadership so that they experience self-efficacy and enjoy their work, can contribute and develop their skills and are an enthusiastic member of our family of employees.
Environment
At BUTTING, an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system regulates the implementation of measures to prevent environmental damage, monitors environmentally relevant facilities and supports managers in all matters relating to environmental protection. It is divided into the main areas of environmental protection, waste management, hazardous substance management and incident management.
Social commitment
At BUTTING, we put people at the centre of everything we do. The resulting responsibility has always been a central feature of our corporate behaviour. With this in mind, we are not only committed to our customers and employees, but also to the people in the region in which we live and work, and support them with a wide range of social projects.
Reporting
Our sustainability report is a clear statement of our commitment to comprehensive and transparent reporting on our diverse activities in the areas of sustainability and ESG (environmental, social and governance). Our aim is to continue to fully fulfil the constantly increasing requirements for sustainability information at all times in the future.
Whistleblower system
Every individual at BUTTING should contribute to maintaining a responsible corporate culture based on our values. Our whistleblower system is therefore an important tool that we use to encourage employees, customers, suppliers, partners and the public to report any violations of applicable laws, regulations or guidelines.
Responsible corporate governance
UN Global Compact
The BUTTING Group is a participant in the United Nations (UN) Global Compact. This is the world's largest initiative for responsible corporate governance and comprises more than 25,000 companies from over 160 countries. It provides a platform for the exchange of best practices and the development of innovative solutions in the area of sustainable business.
By participating, the BUTTING Group undertakes to actively support the ten universal principles of the UN Global Compact in the areas of human rights, labour standards, environmental protection and anti-corruption and to integrate them into its business activities. At the same time, the company is making a direct contribution to the implementation of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

EcoVadis: Platinum medal for BUTTING
H. Butting GmbH & Co KG has been a member of the EcoVadis collaborative network since 2022. EcoVadis is a globally recognised online platform that awards ratings and sustainability awards and monitors sustainability performance in our supply chains. BUTTING evaluates existing suppliers and investigates sustainable procurement in our supply chain.
Certification by EcoVadis enables us to demonstrate our efforts transparently to all stakeholders. It not only serves as a benchmark, but also identifies potential for improvement in order to increase our sustainability performance in the long term. The EcoVadis assessment evaluates our business practices in the areas of the environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. Through continuous improvement, we were able to increase our EcoVadis score to 83 out of a possible 100 points in 2025. This puts us in the top 1% of the industry worldwide and we have been awarded the platinum medal.
