Our management

Since 1 January 2024, a Group Management Team has been responsible for the BUTTING Group. This distributes management responsibility across several shoulders.

Shared responsibility

Group Management Team

Since 1 January 2024, responsibility for the entire BUTTING Group has been in the hands of a Group Management Team (GMT). This forward-looking decision gives the management a broad base, strengthens its ability to act and secures the long-term development of the Group.

With regard to the size of the company, the Group Management Team is an important authority in terms of stability and future viability: the BUTTING Group now comprises a large number of companies, including eight production sites and more than five sales offices on four continents. The family of employees has grown to over 2,600 members worldwide.

Hermann Butting

Hermann Butting heads the General Management Team as Owner and President. He has been managing partner of the BUTTING Group in the seventh generation since 2000.

Norbert Heinzle

As CEO (Chief Executive Officer) of the Pipe Technology division, Norbert Heinzle is responsible for the large area of pipe production and pipe technology within the team. He also represents the important topics of technology and innovation in this division in the Group Management Team.

Marcel Bartels

As CEO of the Division Plant Construction, Marcel Bartels focuses on the holistic management of all plant construction activities within the BUTTING Group. In addition to the goal of achieving the highest possible customer benefit, the focus is on designing a closed global value chain – from engineering to installation.

Heike Hermann

As CFO (Chief Financial Officer), Heike Hermann is responsible for finance, tax, insurance, legal matters, Group controlling, risk management and our activities when we acquire companies and want to integrate them into our Group.

Dirk Meinecke

As CPO (Chief Process Officer) for all companies in the Group, Dirk Meinecke supports the important topics of process optimisation through continued digitalisation, a future-proof IT strategy, management systems and measures in the area of sustainability.

BUTTING worldwide

In addition to the internationally active companies of the BUTTING Group, our sales structure is based on the activities of our partners in various regions of the world.

Burgkirchen (GER)

BUTTING CryoTech in Burgkirchen is one of the world's leading medium-sized companies active in vacuum technology. Its core business is in the field of vacuum-insulated transfer systems and the manufacture of cryogenic valves.

China

Our site in Tieling in the north of China offers production facilities for vessels, piping systems and ready-to-install components. BUTTING also has offices in Hong Kong and Beijing.

Düren (GER)

Textoris Apparate- und Rohrleitungsbau GmbH complements our capacities and expertise in apparatus and pipeline construction. This includes, for example, various maintenance projects in the paper industry.

Finland

The renowned assembly company PrePipe Oy has been part of the BUTTING Group since January 2025. PrePipe has been operating in Lappeenranta since 2006 and specialises in pipeline installation, maintenance and project work.

Canada

BUTTING Canada supplies customers throughout North America with prefabricated pipes, components, piping and vessels manufactured in our plants in Germany and China. In Calgary, we maintain a warehouse for duplex and super duplex pipe.

Knesebeck (GER)

Our headquarters are located in the district of Gifhorn in Lower Saxony. This is where we manufacture longitudinally welded pipes made from stainless steels and clad materials and process them into ready-to-install components.

Könnern (GER)

At BUTTING in Könnern, longitudinally welded stainless steel pipes are produced from coiled strips and plates in lengths of 2 to 12 metres.

Oberursel (GER)

Our BUTTING Plant Engineering team, consisting of pipework engineers and designers, offers you a high level of service and a broad portfolio of engineering services.

Schwedt (GER)

BUTTING in Schwedt is our expert unit for the construction of containers, vessels, apparatus and pipelines. It is also responsible for international assemblies and industrial services.

USA

In the USA, our site is located in Loxley, Alabama. A state-of-the-art production facility for the latest generation of pipe technology is currently being built there.
