Pigging technology
Established since the 1990s
Precise, hygienic, unique
BUTTING manufactures piggable stainless steel pipes and elbows that set standards - in terms of hygiene, efficiency and product quality. We are the only manufacturer in the world to produce stainless steel pipes in accordance with DIN 2430-1 - our unique technological selling point. Our piggable pipework systems enable safe and efficient product conveying. By using pigging technology, media losses can be minimised, cleaning processes optimised and system downtimes reduced.
Standard-setting instead of trailing
We offer flexible solutions for all industries that rely on loss-free processes and minimised downtimes.
- Dimensional range: ID 54.5 to 206.5 mm or on request
- Materials: 1.4307 / TP 304L and 1.4404 / TP 316L or on request

High requirements
Pipes for pigging systems
The use of pigging technology places high demands on our products. These include:
- Minimal tolerances: For the production of piggable pipelines BUTTING uses coil strips. Further processing is carried out using the TIG welding process. Forming from coiled strip provides the optimum conditions for the production of pipes with a very tight tolerance ranges.
- Flexible material selection: We stock piggable stainless steel tubes in the materials 1.4307 / TP 304L or 1.4404 / TP 316L. Other materials and dimensions are also available on request.
- Smooth welds: The inside welds of BUTTING's welded piggable pipes are smoothed during the manufacturing process.
- Uniform inside diameter: BUTTING pigging line pipes are produced with the smallest possible tolerance on inside diameter. The tolerance for a 114.3 × 3.6 mm pipe is only 0.7 mm. This provides an optimum fit and contact surface for the pig, ensuring a continuous throughput process and the best cleaning results.
- Optimised roughness: The roughness value is Ra < 0.8 μm. Even in weld areas, a roughness value of Ra < 1.6 μm is achieved by smoothing operations.
